I think the only way to do that safely wabs is reinstall the operating system

No you can remove it..... If you're using XP then you will be on DX 9 Vista probably DX 10..... but still, the question is why do you want to remove.... Reinstalling is also a possability (this will overwrite any previous installs as long as it is same version or newer)....

I had issues with direct x and installed the latest drivers. Direct x is backwards compatible so you should have no issues with bf.

What issue are you getting?
