Yeah but they are expensive for what they are....

For example: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Electronics-photography/Home-audio/Home-theatre/auction-227152702.htm

But dont buy this one!!! You can buy directly from MVIX (in USA) for a better model and alot cheaper.

Why dont you get an old PC with network capabilities, install FreeNAS on to it (which is free linux based software) and then store the PC in a cupboard with network and power to it???

Or is it that you want to be portable with a hard drive that can play movies.

These are the ones I have been looking at but the price is to high, might as well just buy a exlease box, does not look as pretty though

I'm using a PS3 (upgraded to a 320 GB hard drive) paired with a Synology NAS (750 GB). The PS3 having WiFi is damn handy. Late this year or early next year I'll upgrade the NAS to 8 TB RAID 5 (so 6 TB usable).

The down side to that is it'd have trouble streaming HD content.

Just bought a series 6 Samsung LCD HD TV..... Has USB plug in and ethernet connection for streaming of LAN music, videos and pictures.

So far I am VERY impressed. No lag, the HD is perfect and oh so pretty!!

Samsung 46 series 6 with the USB thingy plus the free 22inch when purchased. HD content looks the shizz even AVIs through the HDMI cable, just managed to finally hang it on the wall in the weekend.

I have found myself lost in the media world -
