Gamers Net NZ to Close

Gamers Net NZ to close
3rd July 2009

Well it's been a good run, through Skankyflat, Jetstream Gaming and finally Gamers.

It is with much sadness and regret that the Gamers Net NZ admin team is announcing the closure of the service. This is not due to us wishing to discontinue the service we are providing, but our primary sponsor Orcon pulling the plug on their support due to the current financial situation.

Firstly a big thank you to Orcon for supporting us for the last couple of years, we really have appreciated all they have done for us, and without their ongoing support, this venture is plainly just not viable for us to continue.

We had approached a number of parties to try and continue ongoing support for the service, but the current climate means very few companies are willing to invest. So we have been left with very little choice but to stop.

The effective date for closure is the 20th of July 2009. At this time we will be turning off all game servers, voice servers (both ventrilo and teamspeak). We will not be turning off the web serving initially. If you have a subdomain off gamers.net.nz the hosting service will remain active for a period of 1 month after the closure of the game servers.

If you have hosting for your own domain you can continue to have this with us, at the price of $10 a month, as we will be continuing to provide hosting (indeed it is our primary business), or if you wish to move to another hosting provider, we will allow 3 months to facilitate this move.

We will not be accepting any further server orders, and will be cancelling all subscriptions made via Paypal. If you have made a payment for your service after the 10th of July we will refund your payment. We will be removing all bills from the system, so no service will be discontinued before the 20th of July.

Should you have any questions or queries in relation to your game, voice or web hosting, please send an email to gameadmin@gamers.net.nz and we will endeavour to answer it as soon as possible.

We thank you for your support over the years. And we're really sad to go. See you on the other side.

I was quite happy with Gamers until they gave pub admin to a certain few that were absolute (insert nasty words here) RETARDS!

No, there is Gamevault which is where our promod server is located, Mr Arsey runs it.

by by gamers, hello Cubos Gaming looks like there might be some big competition

Dear Customer,

Given the recent announcement of closure by Gamers.net.nz, Cubos Gaming are considering opening up a new hosting location in Auckland, New Zealand. Assuming there are enough interested parties, we plan on having services up and running within two weeks.

If you would be interested in this we would like to hear from you.

Best Regards,

Vaughan Reid

I saw it coming.. I posted this in the Honour forums in november ;) To the tune of Video killed the Radio star...

And now we meet in an abandoned forum laying low.
We read the PayBack and it seems so long ago.
And you remember how the flamewars used to flow.

Oh-a oh

You were the first one.

Oh-a oh

You were the last one.

Pay Back killed the gamers.net.
Pay Back killed the gamers.net.

In my mind and on my PC, we can't rewind it's gone you see

Oh-a-aho oh,
Oh-a-aho oh

Pay Back killed the gamers.net.
Pay Back killed the gamers.net.

Morph,

Just keen to see the specs and prices he is hoping for. I'd like to see our clan progress and them not be cut up into parts and turned into gaming rigs or transformers.

The gamers forums are still up and running, and it seems they are selling. I have Pm'd Doogie with a sticky thingy, pointing this way.
