congrats guys for making it to 10yrs, i would just like to say that i have enjoyed my almost 2 years with the clan, you guys are awesome.
The coolest thing is we really care about each other, when me and my wife sepperated i didn't know if i should tell you's or just bottle things up etc, but i shared my probs and feeling with you guys anyway. all MB's encouraged me and supported me etc, i guess made me feel better than i did before. I felt the love....lol.
so yea, although we a cyber mates and have met only a few times, it feels like we have been good mates for ages and thats the thing i wish never changes the most..... :all_coholic[1]: to MB's 10th b,day and many more
p.s me and my wife are back together and are expecting our 3rd child due 6 oct 2009 his name will be Devon Karena Hawley, peace!

Cheers guys for mentioning me but I too have only been in this clan for coming up 3 years I think... It was just before the first Portlan that I was with the MBs.

well its been a very long road, to give yous a bit of info on the history of the clan, the 11th of july 1999 was the beginning of the 28th MB online, there was 3 of us who created the clan MUKA1 NAGPUHI BILLY we started off in MOHA we went through most of that series from spare head to break through. From there we were late comers into cod1 to uo right through the series it has been a long and sometimes twisty road,
when we left moha we had 7 members, mostly made up of friends from work, when we got to cod1 there was only 5 of us who actually played it, the rest moved on, Our 1st recruitment in cod was a young man named revlo, we didnt realise how young he was until he came on to teamspeak 1 day omg.. it was so funny he had such a high voice, it was really funny. from there we meet a very special person his name was 28mb Benson omg.. in his day he was a machine, very talented we chased him for about a week, asking him to join the clan, after a while he said YES
the reason we have so much respect for Benson is because of all the things he did for the clan, one thing about Benson is his fantastic personality he recruited so many other good people into the clan it was unbelievable.
Along with his lovely wife miss daisy they turned MB into what it is today.
get go you could tell was a very good person as well as the 1st time we all meet Gforce and Topes it was a fantastic time. this is just a couple of the stories in our long history i would like to say how proud i am to
be apart of such a fantastic group of people, i would also say thank you to all the current and past MB members, it has been an absolute Honor to share your company over all these years

Bloody hell 10 years .. Congrats to all, especially all the hard workers that are always putting time aside to attend to the great things that happen behind the scenes..

Me and P4dd3 started playing COD2 in late 2005 when we were flatting together... those were awesome days; playing COD through the night until daybreak, drinking wine and beer whilst lanning it up and neither of us having wives to ask "when are you coming to bed?" LOL, we still both get it to this day.
We started our own mini-clan called [STG] with another guy I knew, and the 3 of us did pretty well playing with guys like Gforce, Billy, Benson, Pipey/Rogue, Wolfy, Oldfart, Barber, Jad, Mad Hatter aka Hats, Lurt, Skippy, Porneh, Pronto, Ngapuhi, Steve, Sam, Paul, Mudd, Nameeater to name a few! Until P4dd3 started talking to Benson in game. 1 thing lead to another and we finally ASKED to be accepted into 28th|MB| - Benson 'quote' said - "THEY BE OURS"
Never looked back since, the good times I've had over the past 4 years is just awesome. Thanks especially to Billy and Benson for the continued hard work over the years and your dedication, you guys are so appreciated :PDT_Armataz_01_36[1

and i agreeing with Nick, so....
after i got sick of playing UT online i found this game called Call of Duty - played the single player a couple of times and realised there were nz servers where my 56k was alright, so i jumped on through CoD and then into UO.
and it was in UO that i noticed these guys running around with "28thMaoriBattalion" tacked on the front or back of their names - usually in lots of pretty colours. Some of them even played alright.
but that just made them a bigger target for me:PDT_Armataz_01_36[1
i used to really hate barber on that map in UO with the castle on the hill and all the stone walls, and i'd always seem to get the jeep stuck on a wall and that bastard would be there to get me:mad:
...and then they wrecked the series by making CoD2, so i went to the battle field series till i got sick of all the team killing little kiddies and had to go back to CoD (took about a year).
..wasn't too long before i got used to not sprinting, and having this dumb nade indicator that didn't seem to stop me from being blown up:shiner[1]:
and then i discovered my shotty.... and everyone hated me for using it (noobcannon/tube/gun/wateva) but that just made me want to use it more (that and the sound it makes when you shoot someone(s) with it).
it was not long after that that i started thinking about clans. 28th|MB| were big and had servers, but i was actually leaning more towards nzfk who were smaller but seemed really competitive.
then 1 day i was playing on the 28th|MB| server, on that map with all the trenches - made for the shotty i think, (called decoy/El Alamein?) and some idiot from another clan was trying to recruit me which you're not meant to do on the mb servers, and i thought "how rude" and made a point of shooting him.
then benson asked me what my email was and i typed it up and he said check your email.
so i did.
he sent:

...just on the side, i have to say my favourite CoD2 map wasn't the 1 with the trenches, it was actually brecourt. i loved running across the big open areas with the shotty to put the smackdown on the snipers up close:FIREdevil[1]:

Call of Duty was my first multiplayer game, I actually bought it to play the single player as it looked 'cool'. I think this was 2002ish??
I started playing online and was soon recruited by Lipton in to =SoH=, now I had issues going on to vent and it was demanded of me to get on vent or not scrim. So I did... This is where I met people like Glycerine, Skycotic, Vandal and a host of others that I forget (old age).... We played other clans like Evil, TOG, TUB, [Z], POTW, MH and the MBs....
COD2 was out and =SoH= broke up because of people like Holysock and Mercy, Glycerine and I created a clan called Ae (Ardent Effect) with other members like Sykotic, Ska and OMG I cant remember.
After that went dormant Glycerine and I combined Ae with Pawnys clan created ~N~ Nightingales where my tag was Betty.
If you thought I have a nasty streak now, you should have seen me back then....
The MBs would scrim us everyonce in awhile but they were more interested in playing CTF..... I actually thought the MBs were too good for us so didnt bother playing SD....
~N~ broke up and I decided I wanted to belong to a clan again, for the purpose of when I come online I knew some people and could scrim every once in awhile, the MBs were well known for their skill and I was quite intimidated by them. However I applied on the forums, I didnt dare say I wasnt a Maori as I wanted to join a clan and didnt ever expect to meet any of them, my little secret.
It took quite awhile for Billy to pick me for the scrims, I was either never picked, not good enough or last resort. Oh how the tide has turned lol....
As it happens the MBs decided to have a LAN where I was invited as well, I though sh!t, these guys dont know that Im a little white fella...
Still to this day Im not sure if they know! Confession time?
Nah, the MB's have been a stable and family orientated clan for as long as I have been with them, I am not sure how long I have been with the MB's, I think it is 3 years plus and to this day I am very thankful that they have put up with my inability to be diplomatic and to bite my tounge when something happens..... MBs I am very honored. And thank you for making me tone down as much as I have, obviously still a long way to go....

Yup Happy Birthday MB....Native and i cracked open a few beers at X-lan and celebrated courtosey of Afflication who paid for the beers twice. :)
(we did not really know but would have done so if we did.)
And Native did his part by keeping the 28th name high and proud on the pub servers at X-lan all weekend.....
Go the MB's....we will need to do something a little bigger for our 20th.

ahh the days when i first started with a game called cod2 playing well standing there to be killed by the likes of benson billy gforce it was good times then i became a member of a little palmy clan of mates called TDC with the likes of Sn1per J@ck Bauer and sas i played cod 2 till the day before cod4 came out and to my surprise i could shoot the people in the MBs for the first time i had a purpose lol
then one day i think it was on internode 11 g asked me to apply and i thort why not these guys are amazing and i dont think i have a chance but here i am

i remember zx81,the c64 and amiga 500. 26 years of gaming and i've enjoyed every single game i ever played except jungle boy... swinging on vines and stabbing crocodiles... come on wtf up with that...
but cod series with the mb's is real top notch.

Cod2 was the first PC FPS game I had ever played. I was bored of playing my PS2 and had started playing my SOCOM 1 & 2 again and again then Killzone came out, 7 days later it was clocked and sold, along with my Socom's to help pay for my copy of COD2.And from there it started.
I remember back in 06, I found Skankyflat.net and started a thread about "Cod2 Help" for some advise on my ping and why it was always around 350. lol i was playing USA severs.
Someone put my in the direction of all seeing eye, and that is when I found my new online Family. The 28th|MB severs were the first on the list and in I went. They had the best CTF servers, always ppl on and plenty on target practice, lol I was it:007[1]: mudd,barber,Billy,Gforce,skippy and crew made sure of that.
I was the same as M3dic.....a little white boy, so I made sure I put my last name in my request for joining, and hoped no one asked for a picture:shiner[1]: I later found out i wasn't the only little white boy, hell they had a ginger haired kid playing with them going by the name of Skippy. A week later i was part of the Mighty MB's family and the rest is history.
Thanks guys for the great years and the late nights fragging, may there be many more!

First MB memories...
COD2 was the first game I played online.
I had the demo and loved it so much I played the same level for a month without getting bored. the next trime we went into town (we were living in Waiouru at the time and the thought of buying the game online never occurred to me) I convinced my wife to let me get it. I played single player for about a two months, hitting the levels over and over again. My grandfather server in North Africa, and those scenes along with the British uniforms had me hooked as they kept remindig me of him.
Then one day I thought I'd hit the multiplayer tab. The first server that stood out was the 28th MB - the idea of a server named after one of the NZ units that served really rang a bell with me. After a while, I kept noticing the same names around - Billy, Barber, Skippy, Benson, nameater, Wolfy, GForce, Mudd and that damned shotgun on the most open maps inthe game etc.. and thought I'd see if I made the grade to join the clan. I wasn't sure if us whiteys would be allowed in, so made an effort to be an internet Maori for a couple of weeks before I put my application in and threw out a few kiaoras every time I joined the server.
I didn't have a mike, and had never heard of vent, so it took me a while to get on - actually about 2 months, but as soon as I did the game took on a whole new level. I remember Billy and Benson being on that night, and was really nervous about not sounding like an absolute twat on venty for the first time while my wife berated me for meeting blokes on the net to chat.
I think the clincher was a one on one vs Benny for a game win in S&D. The rest of our teams were down and I had sucked all night (I'd only really played CTF before, and was struggling with the whole "it's S&D so if you rush you die concept"). It seemed like we were looking for eachother for ages, and then I heard a sound and looked up. Benny was standing on a ledge about a metre above my head. Quietly packing myself I went for a bit of show and threw a nade straight up in the air instead of shooting him. When he called me a dirty bastard after the kill I figured I was on the right track.
The next day I checked the forums and saw a post from Billy announcing I had been accepted into the clan.
I was pretty stoked at the time, and still am. I enjoy the fact that we aren't a group of pimply 15 year olds as it brings more to the clan than just gaming. Things like M3dic helping me out over the phone the first time I tried to put a PC together, catching up with Bren when he cruised through town on his Goldwing one day, and Zav's missus hooking me up with an awesome logo for my team at work are things that only an older and more mature crowd can provide.
