Hard drives 1TB

I am wanting to get a 1 TB hard drive but have heard alot of bad things about them and Google is full of shitty problems, can anyone give me advice on any that are good? :PDT_Armataz_01_34[1

I am using both Western Digitial and Samsung 1TB drives.... no issues yet... they are also very full.....

Native as several and the FTP has several Samsung (coz they were cheap).....

I have a 1.5TB in my studio computer Jad (it is a mac though) as an audio drive (not running the OS) and has been sweet touch wood.

Pretty sure it's a seagate barracuda but will confirm.

stay away from seagate 7200.11 type hdds. Wish I had read the reviews before buying 9 of them. Nothing really bad said about Samsung hdds apart from being a little slower than others. But if you're looking at 1tb or bigger, no doubt they will be used mainly for storage, where I think reliability is more of a necessity than access speed. www.pp.co.nz were selling Samsung 1.5tb hdds for $216inc gst n freight 2 weekends ago. Not sure how much they are now.

In recent weeks, I've had 1 x seagate 1tb die, 1 x seagate 1.5tb die, and now I have a WD 1.5tb on its way out

Note : If you have a reasonably current motherboard, it will come with S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology). It checks your hdds at post for errors. Believe it when it says your hdds has errors, back it up and replace it. Don't do what I did and ignored it for a few weeks, and then all of a sudden the hdd died with all the data on it. Not once, but twice. I'm a slow learner lol. My WD 1.5tb is currently having that error, so I'm buying a samsung 1.5tb to back it up before it dies. Such sh*t hardware out there...

The drives were appearing and disappearing in windows. Couldn't copy files to or from the drives. S.M.A.R.T. picked up the problem first. Then it gradually got worse.

yep i agree native, i lost all my games , game files , maps , tools , 60 gig of music , lawyers letters, kids stuff , passwords, porn sites, email address, and a serious part of my existance because of them fruckers, and i did say fruckers....:PDT_Armataz_01_40[1...............:PDT_Armataz_01_07[1
