Remote control your computer

Is there anyway to control my home computer from work, also want to start and shutdown via the net.
Had a quick google and they point to a program called VNC, I am not sure it can wake on lan though.

If your PC is not older than a few years then yes it can be waken by LAN - Usually BIOS setting (and/or network adapter settings).

If you had a spare PC you could install SSL Explorer (free software) which would allow you to do the same thing (this is how we use to do the MB servers)

If you simply want to control from work set your firewall to allow only the IP address to have access to port 3389 and redirect the incoming 3389 to your PC.

Note, this is not secure and can be hacked.
