Hey guys, before I took off overseas I was having probs with COD shutting down my PC randomly.

I've had a crack again today, and the problem is still there. I monitored the temps and they all looked OK, so figure it is time to get a new PSU. Are there any brands you guys can reccomend or suggest I avoid?

This is the one I have Pronto and it is very good, although a modular one would have been nicer, not $70 nicer though :)

Defiantly go Cosair for quality.

Depending on your fussiness i would get the modular one for the bucks too because i always wish i did now.

Do you need 700W + ?

There is a 620W for 100 bucks less still modular.

Yehah, go for something that means that when you upgrade you dont have to get a new psu too. All that's gonna change with regards to power usage each time you upgrade is how much it needs, so just pre-empt that and go for something with plenty of grunt now.

The upgrade has begun - I reckon if I spread the components out over a couple of months I'll be able to get a bit past the finance comittee at home, and bring back a pretty awesome machine.

Next step - probably an OS update as I'm not able to use all my RAM on 32 bit XP and then graphics cards

Good one:PDT_Armataz_01_34[1

I use a 1000w 82+ amp power to run i7 and 2 GTX280 SLi that are very power hungry So that should hold you for a long time.

To tell you the truth, you can quite easily get away with a 600-700w PSU just as long as you ensure the you use different power rails due to the draw on the amps. But in saying that, I have been using a 1000w PSU for the last 2-3 years
