Billy - I'm into a piece of this when it comes out.
I must admit I enjoyed the vehicles in UO (and the ranking system) and I reckon this has gotta be the go.
Having said that, I'm concerned about the bitches who sit in vehicles and hog them :(

Wow thought I was watching a trailer for some awesome film due out.
hmm, looks like a graphic hog ...Any news on the specs required...looks like single player is a mission on its own , but i guess it will have the co-op and all the goodies of its predecesors...but remember we all thought world at War was guna be the bomb and seemed to fail most of you ( personally i prefer it over cod4 , but thats just my opinion )... Anyway i will buy it as most of you will and play....If it retains a space above my computer it s keepa , otherwise it will go into my exceptionaly large box of dud fps- erz...........

So what is Modern Warfare 2 News doing with a Call of Duty 4 banner above it? Well there has been recent scepulation that IW are dropping the Call of Duty name from there next installment. Now it appears as though that is not going to happen.
A recent article on FileFronts gaming news site ( Gaming Today ) revealed the new box art for Modern Warfare 2 and it clearly shown that Call of Duty is still there.

See, now THAT is definitive. I had thought it strange that Infinity Ward or Activision would remove the CoD title from the game, since that links it into a seriously well-known franchise. Sure, it might confuse the issue of which Call of Duty game is coming next, but I�ll bet it will be totally worth it.
I can assure you all that most of us here at Gaming Today will be available online for you to shoot at on day one of Modern Warfare 2. I know that you will all be happy about that opportunity

Activision owns both Infinity ward and Treyarch.*both set up by devs working on the cod franchise.
Since *modern warfare* was such a success Treyarch have been left to develop WW2 FPS and apparently the deal was the release one yr after the modern warfare.
Now COD moderndern warfare 2 will be launched by infinity ward across the platforms.
The interesting bit was I thought I read somewhere that *Blizzard has an interest in Activision but I cannot find that.The reason it interested me was that Bliz as you all know have the worlds largest MMOLRPG which is pay to play.
The developers hinted yrs ago that they would love to be able to offer a world senario similar to blizzards
My best bet is that Modern Warfare 2 will still be claassed in *COD series but the changing environments of battle scenes with always now be modern times.

Today is one huge MW2 leak-fest it seems. Portions of the October PSM3 magazine (PS3 gaming mag from the UK), specifically the article Shock and Awe have hit the CoD forums bringing with it new information about the game.

Rob Bowling provides an explanation of the customizable killstreak, from the article:
"...You can have a three killstreak or a fifteen killstreak if you want, so something like the AC-130 is one of the highest killstreaks you can select."
Therefore, you can choose your killstreak reward! Noobie players might not want to set killstreak awards so high, as they might not ever get them. Instead, they can set smaller killstreak targets, leaving the better players with the ability to achieve more powerful rewards for uber-fragging.
Other confirmed items:
1."...five Special Ops missions will be open to you when you first boot up the game and you'll earn stars as you complete each one - with three on offer for the completion of the hardest difficulty, two for the middling one and a measly one should you plump for a simpler experience. Once the stars start pouring in further mission bands will open themselves up to you, going form the five-level strata of Alpha (easy), Bravo, Charlie and Delta all the way to the summit of Echo's three level escapade...Contained with these will be the aforementioned Elimination mode and a few snowmobile timed trials, but also scenes in which you and your buddy must fend off wave after wave of enemies with well-placed claymore mines and sniper rifles in the fashion of CoD4's Pripyat finale."

5. Grenade physics have been added. Nades now roll around after they have been tossed and can even back up towards you if they have been tossed straight up.

MW2: Texture streaming
Fourzerotwo's blog post for today shows us MW2's texture streaming technology in a practical way as they debut some screenshots.
Looks like IW is trying out this technology to stretch out console system memory (RAM and VRAM), else there would not be enough room for all the destructible environments and various weather effects in the game. Essentially the streaming tech allows for better memory management. Hopefully we won't get that irritating "pop-up" effect as you get closer to objects.
Speaking of eye-"popping" graphics...my guess is that MW2 won't achieve CoD:WW's levels. Overall, IW's goal is to retaining a solid 60 fps framerate on the XBox and stunning graphics would make that difficult to achieve (CoD:WW was a 30fps game). It wouldn't surprise me that IW's release schedule might have taken a hit as programmers made optimization to MW2 graphics to take that 60 fps happen.

Game play in SP looks great and the Graphics are so clear and crisp cant wait to try this out with new Computer :FIREdevil[1]:
Only sad thing I don't like is MP Graphics look good only up until Pro-Mod comes out. (Don't get me wrong pro-Mod is good) Its sometimes what it takes out that I don't like or what other people turn off in console to have an edge so you end up doing the same thing to keep up at the expense of the way the game was made to look.
Didn't take long before Pro-mod and other things stopped people from having SHADOWS on and Light refractions on and removing the foliage in plants etc etc. After about 6 month the game is striped right back to bear nothing.:PDT_Armataz_01_33[1

Yep sure is I've bought off them before and its the real deal. They are based in Hong Kong and there service is really good. Been around for years. Only problem I've ever had was with a new release game which I didn't get until about 10 days after release here.

Captain Price will be featuring in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, according to his voice actor Billy Murray, he was flown in to LA to work on the game earlier on so hopefully we'll see the return of a prominent character in the first game. There is no official news on this, however only the actor has talked to Videogameszone and has said he was working on the game, I guess we'll only know for sure if Infinity Ward release it or until we buy the game.

Personally I think they are waiting to see how bad it really is, they have not released the game yet, so at the moment they can only gauge the pre-order cancellations, people will still get it, the playtech lan will have sold about 40 copies alone.
According to the net they sold 13 million copies of cod4, and wiki says only about 4.7 million where sold to xbox and ps3 combined!
I think the flow on effect will be huge, if the pc community goes to Bad Company (which it looks more and more likely), then the console owners too will follow.
I have to laugh at how they say that PC gamers do nothing but download the game anyway yet there is already an Xbox360 version available to download on the torrents.

If they're actually going to introduce dedi servers after release, then it seems a bit odd that they have not mentioned that they are merely trialling IW.net prior to this. Wouldn't they have said "we are going to try this but if it doesn't work we'll give you dedi servers back" if they were going to do that?
Also, the possibility of dropping the PC completely from their CoD series doesn't really suggest that they will go to all the trouble of changing everything aroudn to suit our desires.
Pretty much - with all the bad publicity they've been getting RE no dedicated servers, it stands to reason that if this was still an option then they would have let everyone know ASAP to avoid all this.

For those of you who are PC gamers, you should wait on buying Modern Warfare 2 from the retailers. The PC version comes with 2 discs but it seems that only the actually game is working and not the extra content.
The first DVD/Disc is about 6.9 GB which seems to be the standard size for games that are coming out now. Unfortunately, each drive refuses to recognize the DVD. The DVD drives rattle around and you can hear the disc just clattering in the DVD Drive. Now when something like this happens, questions comes to mind and that is if this is a manufacturing defect and if there are other discs out there that have this problem.
A German game magazine reports the same problem. Every drive in their editorial office refuses the second DVD (they have seven PC's and four copies Modern Warfare 2 for PC). They say it’s definitly a production error.

The game seems fine.......
First I had issues with Steam... It would crash when I tried to log in after installing....
Once I got that sorted, it required downloading a patch for both the single player and multiplayer. It was only a small patch though probably only a few mb each...
The single player was OK.... No leaning and FOV was shite.... Clocked it in about 3.5-4 hours.
Decided to try the dreaded MP.... First I was thinking that this wasnt too bad... didnt seem like I had lag, 3 green bars is supposed to be good (150ish ping).... But when I shot someone it took 1-2 seconds to register. Point blank head shots would missed etc...
Then later when trying to give is a second chance like an unfaithful ex-girlfriend from many years ago... This time I was 2 bars yellow, (means 300-400 ping) and I couldnt run... Stuff that, so I left and joing 7 other matches and they were ALL the same... I could not run JUST like when you had a ping of 500+ in COD4....

Same had a prob with Steam but finally got it working. Myself, Brave, Jakey and Cal were playing our own private match server which went awesome we all had 4 bars and no lag problems at all...........maps look bloody good aswell.

The game play I like, the AI seems pretty good and on hardened its pretty nasty.........I dropped it to regular to get through some of the story but will go back to hardened at some stage..............the graphics are way better than cod 4, WAW and the couple of hours i spent single player and on line I want more..............
There are hidy holes all over the place and excellent stratergy and team work I can see being a big pat of this and strategy and team work is absolutely required......

Yeah the single player is awesome along with the spec ops.....multi player though sucks HARD. I was playing yesterday with a 3v5 team split with no way to swap teams, not to mention the numerous times the game stopped to find another server/host MAJOR FAIL in that respect. Otherwise the multi gameplay is good

It wasn't an actual scrim. It was only by chance that it ended up that way.
In saying that, anyone in a private or pub match can invite friends from their list. It doesn't have to be the host.

So is there dedicated servers but only with steam and if so does that mean the closest servers are in AUS and on top of that does it LAG...

The game is run off of the pc that has the best CPU out of the users/players list. I was in a server that was very slow today but otherwise I havent had much lag while playing, It's been good in genral.

When asked if there will be dedicated servers added later, the developers of mw2 had this to say:
"We feel the PC game
is great in it's current form. We put a lot of work into IWnet in an effort to make the PC experience better for our users. We believe MW2 is better than CoD4:MW. The reason iw.net exists is to improve the gameplay
for our users. If there is a need for something more in the future we will address as needed. Our goal is to provide the best experience for our users, so nothing is ever "off the table". We are always evaluating our options."

Like IW stated at the pre release PC sales will not be their largest market so this is just an indication of that.
There will always be PC gamers but maybe not what we were used to. ?
