ok i scored me old mums PC and set it up in my garage.:emot-ninja[1]:

My main pc in in the house but i can't get either to 'see' each other so i can access from either place. tried running 'setting up home net work' but failed.

Is anyone able to assist at all ???

I have trouble getting mine to see each other as well. XP and Windows7. cant remember what I did in the end. Try turning your firewalls off....I dont know Wabli just guessing :)

what operating system are they each running, is it wireless or thru a switch ,

Windows XP on Both same install different keys
Running through wire 4 port DSL D-Link 504 T

Are they both able to see the internet?

What IP are both the PC's?

To ensure both PCs are on the same subnet/network... go to DOS command and type 'ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx' (xxx is the ip address of the other PC).

If it returns a 'reply from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx <1ms' then it can connect to it.

If this is the case you will need to share the folder you want access to, such as right click the 'Linux ISO' folder --> Properties --> sharing tab --> set up share.

This way you will be able to leave your firewall on.
